Pre Requisites for joining Heels Pole Classes: You will have attended at least 6 -12 beginner pole classes. You will have practised the basic foundation spins and tricks on the pole by attending pole fitness classes.
You will need a pair of Heels Pole Dance shoes not regular heels, and knee pads. See our what to wear below for more details.
Our Heels Pole Classes are not levelled. We welcome all levels at all our Heels classes. No need to have dance experience, just some basic pole experience. This is for basic spins such as step around, chair spin, hooked spins forward and backwards, and pirouettes. We run Intro to Heels and back to basics sessions to welcome new students in a slower paced workshop. This is not essential but is a nice way to be introduced to Heels, you can view these sessions on our workshops/timetable.
As you progress at Heels you are challenged in a variety of ways whilst remaining in classes suited for students of all levels. This is managed by offering a range of tricks in a routine from basic to advanced and allowing students to take the most informed choice based on their experience. Your movement memory is challenged with less opportunity to follow the teacher for those who need it and a supportive follow along style for those who are newer. By doing this you will develop your individual style, and attitude whatever level you are. You will notice your creative skills are increased through choosing to freestyle or be inspired to watch and support, you may even be encouraged to do a performance. You will improve your repertoire of heels tricks and your ability to pick up routines will increase.
By encouraging you to recognise your progression you will build confidence in your self through noticing skills you have gained. This format builds life skills that increase resilience, self worth, self identity and empowerment. Therefore, while we ensure all your pole dance lessons are effective, you can rest assured you will always be motivated, inspired, challenged, and celebrating your success along with us.

What do I wear to Heel Pole Classes and what about the heels themselves?
Whilst heels are a good idea at Heels class, if you have any foot/ankle issues and/or you are wanting to try before committing to purchasing Pole Dance Heels you are welcome to learn the routines and join in wearing socks/bare feet.
Shoes or boots? What type of heels is a common question we get asked. In our classes we work with techniques that are best done when wearing boots. Boots are also supportive of ankles and prevent injuries, they also come in sooo many funky colours and designs. We do not recommend open toes for our classes, simply because we work a lot with kips, bangs and twirls and stilletos and open toe boots can be painful to wear when practicing these dynamic tricks.
We recommend wearing heels that are specifically designed for pole dancing. These can be purchased from pole dance clothing sites and include brands such as Pleasers, Hella Heels, LeeCabe.
We do not recommend purchasing from Amazon/Temu/Wish or similar sites as these shoes are usually imitations and do not last long or are not worth the money savings.
Pole Dancing Heels can be purchased second hand from our students, also check Vinted/eBay for pole dancers handing down their heels. This is a great way to grab great heels, broken in for a fraction of the cost.
Heel height is important, as a newbie we recommend starting at 6 – 7 inches, then graduating to a higher heel once you feel more confident. Heels go as high as 8 and 9 inches. These are an ideal heel height for those wanting more challenge and authenticity.
Clothing wise we recommend wearing something that feels comfortable, makes you feel good and you can move in. Leggings/tights or usual pole clothes (shorts and T shirt/crop top) are ideal. We do not climb or invert in Heels Pole so it is not essential that you have bare legs.
Knee pads are essential and you can purchase these at the studio in a range of sizes.
Heels Pole Classes work on learning routines. These are started on week 1 and run for 4-5 weeks. The same routine is taught at all our classes on the timetable at the same time, which means if you cannot always make the same day you don’t have to miss out, it also means if you want more practise you can double up on the lessons. For details on when our next routine is starting follow us on our socials or get in touch with us. We always announce our new routine and you can follow the routine on our on demand library to practise at home or at open practice times.
To encourage a versatile student and also to cater for all tastes we alternate styles of Heels, from sensual and slow to exotic and skripper style. We also alternate pace and genre of songs from rock to r n b, alternative and have even worked with musicals, movie soundtracks, pop, funk and soul.
Our routines build on each week, meaning it is best to join our class on week 1 or week 2. If you are brand new to heels pole we highly recommend starting on week 1. This is usually the start of a month, however we recommend following us on socials to get the exact term dates.
